Asking the right person, for the right gift, at the right time takes careful consideration and planning. This requires meeting with givers and building relationships. This requires a system to track data and next steps.  

Whether you’re an experienced major gifts fundraiser or just getting started, this refreshed workshop will allow you to practice the planning skills you need to make major gifts a key component of your overall fundraising strategy.  

Gather together with peers in ministry for hands-on practice to:  

  • Define for their organization what makes someone a major giver  
  • Practice using components of a major gifts plan  
  • Create specific plans for nurturing relationships with individuals and giving organizations. 
  • Practice training others to use a plan

Sector Consultant for Capacity Building, Mission Increase Strategic Resource Group

Maria Zalesky serves as the Area Director/Sector Consultant for Capacity Building for Strategic Resource Group (SRG) affiliated ministries working in the Middle East and North Africa. Maria began with MI 2018 as the AD for Inland Valleys CA then moved to a position as VP of Development at the National Resource Center. She has over 20 years of experience in fundraising in both the higher education and nonprofit sectors. Maria began her fundraising career at UC Davis, holding positions in Athletics Development and Parent Relations. After moving to Southern California, Maria served as a Regional Director of Development and the Director of Ruby Women (a women’s philanthropy group) at Biola University before following her calling to nonprofit work at Make-A-Wish. Upon completing her degree at the University of Iowa majoring in Communications, Spanish, and Education, Maria and her husband Lennie taught high school in Alaska from 1990-98. She is excited that God has called her to serve in this new capacity supporting overseas ministry leaders through SRG combining her fundraising, teaching, and coaching backgrounds. Maria and Lennie reside in Kalispell, Montana and their two grown children and three grandchildren live in Montana and Idaho.
